We do not know what they would do. They would certainly have a better understanding of appropriate actions than we can possibly have. We are bound to disagree if we speculate.
I would hope that:
they would immediately intervene to end wars and famines;
longer term, they would work with willing members of the human race to restore the environment and to introduce non-polluting technologies.
Those willing human beings would almost certainly not be current leaders, many of whom would argue that wars and famines are lesser evils than the alien unknown. There would undoubtedly be a period of turmoil before this planet came to be restabilized on a sounder and more sustainable basis.
However, in the absence of such aliens, we alone are responsible for ending wars, famines and pollution.
