The Fact Remained

I have just found a good piece of science fiction writing in an unexpected place and I do not know who wrote it. The back cover blurb of my 1973 Signet edition of Poul Anderson's There Will Be Time is a perfect transition from our lived experience to a well imagined fictional experience:

first, two statements that we accept and agree with;

secondly, a question;

thirdly, an acknowledgement that there is something that this newly introduced fictional viewpoint character does not know;

fourthly and finally, "the fact remained" that his experience does differ from ours. He can time travel by an act of will.

This is almost as well managed as the process by which the author leads us into our "temporary suspension of disbelief" about Havig's time travelling.
