A Stone In Heaven, I-II.
On pp. 14-16, Miriam Abrams refers to:
the Terran Empire;
the Grand Duke of Hermes;
Admiral Flandry.
Near Wainwright Station, the Kiiong River is said to flow more swiftly than any stream on either Terra or Dayan.
On p. 16, Abrams flies to the Maian System, lands at Williams Field on Hermes and goes into Starfall to visit and stay overnight with the Runebergs.
That is a total of perhaps eleven references - I am counting "Terran Empire" and "Terra" as two - that firmly tie this new novel into Poul Anderson's already substantial Technic History. The opening scenes on Ramnu could have been set in any fictional future but we soon learn that this is a familiar timeline and yet again wish that there was more of it.
