A Stone In Heaven, VI.
I write to correct an error. In Remarks On The Game Of Empire, I thought that Ramnu was the only planet in orbit around Niku and therefore that it was incorrect to designate it "Niku IV." However:
"There were four small, virtually airless planets. And there was Ramnu, circling Niku..." (p. 69)
Four airless planets plus Ramnu equals five and Ramnu must be the fourth counting outwards from Niku so it is indeed Niku IV. There are some small inconsistencies in Poul Anderson's Technic History but this has not been one of them.
I will find it difficult to post anything new about Ramnu. See the results of a blog search for "Ramnu," here. (Scroll down.)

Poul did some imaginative solar-system-building. It's a pity he didn't live to see so many extrasolar planets discovered. He'd have been fascinated.
Kaor, Mr. Stirling!
I think Anderson did live to see some tentative evidence for other worlds existing during the 1990's
Ad astra! Sean
