Wind On Atlantis

Virgin Planet, CHAPTER XVII.

When Barbara and Valeria fight over Davis:

"The wind hooted and banged the shutters." (p;. 125)

Of course it does! It seems that there is no drama without wind. But then:

"Above it, suddenly, he heard a roar. It swept closer, boots racketing on cobblestones, clattering iron, a mob howl." (ibid.)

Davis is soon told:

"'Grab your weapons! They're coming to kill you!'" (p. 126)

The narrative is so constructed that, whenever the Man begins to become intimate with a woman, there is an interruption. And, of course, the conflict between Davis and the Atlantean powers-that-be must reach a crescendo before the novel ends. One more fight...at least.

Kaor, Paul!

I have a certain wry sympathy for Davis Bertram, SOMETHING always interrupts as he was about to do the two backed beast thing!

Ad astra! Sean
