Astounding, October 1954, has two covers.
One advertises "The Big Rain" by Poul Anderson. The other (see the attached image) advertises "At Death's End" by James Blish. Since "The Big Rain" is part of Volume 1 of Anderson's Psychotechnic History and "At Death's End" is part of Volume I of Blish's
Cities In Flight, this is a very historic issue of
Astounding. However, since I am trying to get back to reading Kate Mascarenhas'
The Psychology of Time Travel, we will leave the matter there for the time being.
(Potentially massive industrial unrest in Britain. Potentially massive row in the Royal Family. Two very different levels of national life. But we can all read about all that elsewhere. Good night.)

I have two bookcases filled to overflowing with the works of Anderson and some other books touching on science fiction and the question of intelligent life existing on other worlds. That includes some issues of SF magazines containing stories by Anderson. I'll mention two examples: I have a copy of the February 1954 issue of THE MAGAZINE OF FANTASY AND SCIENCE FICTION with one of the very best of Anderson's early stories, "The Immortal Game." The other is the May 1979 issue of F&SF with Anderson's "House Rule" AND Russell Kirk's "Fate's Purse."
It pleased me to have a magazine with stories by both Anderson and Kirk!
I wish Great Britain and the Royal Family well, so I hope they muddle thru these troubles.
