The first team, in the Polesotechnic League period, saves Merseia from supernova radiation.
The second team, in the Terran Empire period, thwarts a Merseian scheme to subvert humanity.
If that sounds too samey, read them and you'll see it isn't. In any case, Anderson left the Technic History to write some completely different future histories although some might think that he should have stayed with it.

The Star Believers and Demonists seen in "Day of Burning" represented two routes the Merseians could have taken for their later history. The former (analogous to our UFO believers) were those Merseians eager or willing to be friendly to non-Merseians. The Demonists were xenophobes hostile to aliens, and their attitude helped to lead to the rise of that ideology of racial supremacism which characterized the Roidhunate.
I would love to see a real UFO, up close and personal, but I don't expect to! I don't expect anything like Anderson's "Peek! I See You!" to ever happen to me. Pity!
