Sepo

Harvest Of Stars.

OK. A police state has been established in North America. Download Guthrie is old and experienced enough to know how to stay one step ahead of the Sepo even when they are right on his heels. Thus, Guthrie is a guest of one of his employees, Lee. When Lee's phone chimes, Guthrie orders him not to answer because it could be a Sepo scout checking whether Lee is home. Then Guthrie orders Lee not to play back any recorded message because "they" have meters to show that he is doing that. The technology in Lee's apartment enables him to scan the area and they detect a jet aircraft hovering three kilometers overhead. Every move that Kyra has made en route to Lee's apartment has to be scrutinized in case it has given the Sepo a clue as to where she was going. And so on.

We get the message but too much of this becomes tedious.

Kaor, Paul!

Well, I didn't find that kind of thing tedious when I read and reread HARVEST OF STARS. More likely, I probably found it all too grimly plausible! And the technicalities of how to evade surveillance and capture did interest me.

Ad astra! Sean
