Operation Luna, 49.
I summarized the climax of this novel in Gods And Demons but did not mention that a radiant winged being appears and dispels bodies, blood and fleeing demons with a wave of his hand. Ginny identifies him as:
"'Cambiel...
"The fifth archangel.
"He who watches over discoverers.'" (p. 438)
I cannot find Cambiel and different names answer to "fifth archangel."
His parting words are:
"-Farewell...Blessings." (ibid.)
Similarly, at the culmination of Poul Anderson's Time Patrol series, a Danellian addresses Everard and Wanda, then:
"A hand lifted. 'Blessing.'
"Everard and Tamberly stood alone."
-Poul Anderson, The Shield Of Time (New York, 1991), PART SIX, 1990 A. D., p. 435.
All's well that ends well. Or something.

Kaor, Paul!
I've tried to find out something solid about Cambiel, but only came across things like him being the angel of magic, or that he figured in the Tarot. I had also wondered if Cambiel was from one of the gnostic or rejected, apocryphal books.
The Catholic Church recognizes and prays to only the three angels named in the Scriptures: Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael.
Ad astra! Sean
