the conflict that had caused the outlawing of the Psychotechnic Institute is at last resolved but interstellar civilization can be expected to generate new problems to be addressed in the remaining six triads;
to anticipate, the problems will be first that interstellar distances and galactic complexity make the coordination of data and of civilization impossible and secondly that humanity will encounter alien cultures and technologies;

I have said this before, in different ways, but in this case I think Earth only became "integrated" because of extraplanetary and then interstellar emigration and colonization of other worlds. Because this provided an outlet for malcontents, the ambitious, frustrated, restless, all kinds of people who would never be happy being "integrated."

And we increasingly need such an outlet, a frontier NOW, in our real world and history. Elon Musk's hoped for colonization of Mars would be a step in that direction.
