Delta Capitis Lupi B I

Virgin Planet, CHAPTER V.

Bertram Davis has landed on:

"...the Earth-sized third satellite of Delta Capitis Lupi B I." (p. 33)

So maybe it is Delta Capitis Lupi B I III?

There is a Greek letter, two Latin words, a Latin letter and a Roman numeral - or two Roman numerals if we add "III." Caput Lupi, "the Wolf's Head," is a constellation. Delta, the fourth letter in the Greek alphabet, designates the fourth brightest star in that constellation. The star is a binary, hence it has an A and a B. B's first planet is I and that planet's third moon might be III.

So Anderson assumes a gas giant nearest to its primary, not further out.

Kaor, Paul!

And that bit about a gas giant NEAR its sun was an authentic touch by Anderson! I have been reading his thoughts about that kind of planet in his 1963 book IS THERE LIFE ON OTHER WORLDS? And what was only speculation in 1963 has been proven to be correct! I've read many articles on the CENTAURI DREAMS website discussing what had to be gas giants discovered orbiting near their suns.

Maybe we will soon be told of an Earth sized, possibly terrestroid MOON of one of these gas giants????

Ad astra! Sean
