The Night Face.
Coffee grows well on Gwydion and they also brew beer and wine. (II, p. 564)
Gwydiona do not go in for introspection because they seem to be simple and straightforward enough not to need it. (VII, p. 607)
Raven explains to Tolteca:
"'You and I are mixtures, good, bad, and indifferent qualities; our conflicts we always have with us. But the Gwydiona seem to concentrate all their personal troubles into these few days.'" (XI, p. 654)
Anderson makes us value our conflicts but not as tritely as when a similar point is made in a Star Trek script.

Kaor, Paul!
Better to have some low order neuroses and hangups than to suffer the annual madness the Gwydiona have to go thru!
Gwydiona coffee might make a good cash crop for export if the planet could ever be safely opened to the outside galaxy without harm to its people.
Ad astra! Sean
