Years

OK. To try to get year equivalences right:

In The Rustum History
1.7 Rustumite = 1 Terrestrial
1 Rolandic      = 0.95 Terrestrial
1 Beowulfan   = different again

In The Technic History
1 Avalonian    = 0.724 Terrestrial

And no doubt this could become a very long list of comparisons but I will stop it here! (All the information is in Poul Anderson's texts, of course.)

Checking back for the Rustumite equivalence, I noticed that Mary Lochaber, whom Dan Coffin later decided against marrying, had been one of his fellow primary school pupils. Every detail helps to solidify a future history series.

Kaor, Paul!

I remember how the Rustumite year was shorter than an Earth year. And that Merseia's year was a trifle longer than ours, albeit no exact figure was.

More exactly, Mary Lochaber refused to marry Dan Coffin, because it would cage him if he had to live only in the highlands, when he could live anywhere on Rustum. And it would cage Mary because in the lowlands the high carbon dioxide pressure would force her to live only in a pressurized house or use a reduction helmet.
