Daring Escapes

Meanwhile, I have read to the end of the rescue mission. See here. Our heroes and those that they have rescued are besieged on the flat roof of a tall building. When their rescuing airship approaches, some of them leap off the building to grab the airship's tethering ropes...

This reminded me of a scene in Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. The Batman, one arm around the (female) Robin, leaps through a high window of a skyscraper and grabs the automatically controlled Batwing hovering just outside. He now has one hand grasping the Batwing and the other holding Robin's gloved hand. Her hand slips out of the glove - and she grabs hold of his cape.

I have a healthy respect for heights.

Kaor, Paul!

I should hope we all have a healthy respect for heights!

But I do question the uncanonical idea of a FEMALE Robin!

Sean,
That story is set in a possible future.

I can imagine a possible and different future having a different Batman with a female Robin. But it still LOOKS uncanonical! (Smiles)

That is an outrageously strong grip.
I have been doing strength training for a long time. One exercise I do is hang from a bar with *both* hands. I don't recall lasting more than 2 minutes before my grip fails & I land on the floor a bit below my feet.

Sure the record for that must be quite a bit longer than my best, but Batman is only supposed to be top athlete rather than super human.

Kaor, Jim!

And that kind of strength is unrealistic and unconvincing!
