Hinduraj And The Now

Hindu Raj is a mountain range in Pakistan.

Hinduraj is India in a timeline prevented by the Time Patrol.

"Hinduraj" also exists in SM Stirling's Emberverse. (The Sunrise Lands, Chapter Eleven, p. 276)

My facebook friends are commenting on the English and Welsh local election results which are still coming in. After breakfast (boiled egg, toast with peanut butter and coffee), we will be gardening under a blue sky. Change of plan: walk.

Laters.

Kaor, Paul!

Hinduraj/India? One shudders to think of what HAPPENED there after the Change!

Local elections? I'll bet protest parties like UKIP are doing well while the Big Two, Conservative and Labour, are getting a whacking.

Sean,
Maybe UKIP's time has passed now that BREXIT is being achieved? Maybe protest votes now go elsewhere? The figures as reported to me are that UKIP has lost all of the 109 County Council seats that it had held and has gained only one - in Lancashire.
Paul.

The Conservatives are the main winners.

Hinduraj means, literally "Hindu Rule" (or "Rule of/by the Hindus"). The Hindu Kush mountain range means "Killer of Hindus".

The Hinduraj in the Change books is, alas, founded by a member of the Bajrang Dal Hindu-fundamentalist movement. However, it mellows somewhat in the reigns of his son and grandson.

Kaor, Paul!

I sit corrected re UKIP. Unless there is too much stalling and foot dragging about evicting the EU from the UK. If so, then UKIP might see a dramatic revival.

Dear Mr. Stirling,

Yes, I have vaguely heard of the Bajrang Dal movement, mostly in connection with its hostility to Christians. I would certainly hope any post-Change regime founded by supporters of the Bajrang Dal would soon mellow!
