We Are Not Alone

A guy I know:

researches local history;

shows tourists around Lancaster Castle (see image);

has read Poul Anderson with pleasure;

specifically mentioned Tau Zero;

was disappointed on rereading Asimov later in life;

also mentioned CS Lewis' Ransom Trilogy and DC superhero comics;

knew some people at Lancaster University who, moving a glass between letters on a table, came across the name "Eric Blood-Axe," allegedly for the first time, and were told by the glass that Eric/Eiric is buried in a nearby town whereas Anderson has him lying where he fell at Stainmore.

Just another few facets of an always surprising universe, in the immortal words of Mainwethering of the Time Patrol.

Kaor, Paul!

Very interesting! I hope this gentleman will leave comments of his own on this blog.

I finally finished THE PSYCHOTECHNIC LEAGUE and now ready to reread MOTHER OF KINGS. As I've discussed in one of my essays the Psychotechnic League stories belongs mostly to Poul Anderson's early phase. And, alas, shows it! That is, these stories are quite "rough" compared to the far better work PA was writing by 1958-59. Not that all of his early phase stories are bad!
