Soon we depart to the
monastery where the temporal is contemplated in the light of the eternal. There will be American monks visiting from
Mount Shasta, a name to conjure with. I will probably think of more points to post about while en route. Maybe this evening. Meanwhile, I trust that recent time travel posts are of interest. Some of the implications emerge while posting.

I'm sure some mentions were made of Mt. Shasta in Stirling's Emberverse series, but I don't recall where.

Yes, but not as the site of a monastery. There -is- an extended scene set in a Buddhist monastery, but it's further east and established after the Change.

I remember that at least. Where Rudi and his companions stayed for several months while he recovered from a very bad wound.
I also thought of the Catholic Benedictine monastery at Mt. Angel.
