Time Patrol Collections

The collection of Time Patrol stories published in The Magazine Of Fantasy And Science Fiction grew from four to five stories and lengthened its title from Guardians Of Time to The Guardians Of Time whereas the later collection of all published Time Patrol stories grew from seven to nine to ten stories and shortened its title from Annals Of The Time Patrol to The Time Patrol to Time Patrol.

Annals Of The Time Patrol amalgamated The Guardians Of Time and Time Patrolman;

The Time Patrol amalgamated Annals... and The Year Of The Ransom and also included the new "Star Of The Sea";

Time Patrol added "Death And The Knight."

Thus, everything is now in one volume except the long novel, The Shield Of Time.

Kaor, Paul!

I think you should have mentioned how THE GUARDIANS OF TIME includes, besides the first five Time Patrol stories, Sandra Miesel's article "Of Time and the Rover." This was her commentary on the Patrol stories as written up till then. And what was your opinion of her essay? I purchased my copy of GUARDIANS largely because it contains this article.

Sean,
I will reread the article to comment on it.

And I will be very interested in what you say about Sandra Miesel's article. It's my view that you, along with Mrs. Miesel, are now the two chief commentators on the works of Poul Anderson. And in sheer quantity at least, you have surpassed her.

Sean,

I have just searched the blog for "Time And The Rover" (in inverted commas). The second and third items in the search result referred to Sandra Miesel's article. But I will discuss it again.
Paul.

Sorry, "Of Time And The Rover."

Sean,
The two relevant posts, both dated Sat 22 Feb 2014, are "Brave To Be A King" and "'Of Time And The Rover.'"

Your corrections noted! And I will be looking up your earlier comments about Mrs. Miesel's article. And If you have any additional comments to make, I will read those with interest.

Sean,
I am drafting a "Time Rovers" post to be published on August 1st.
MARCHING THROUGH GEORGIA has arrived but I will stay with the Time Patrol series for a while longer.

Then I will reread Sandra Miesel's article, to prepare me for your own comments on her essay.

For more than one reason, I'm curious to know how you'll react to Stirling's MARCHING THROUGH GEORGIA. One, it's dystopian SF, which I know is not your cup of tea. Second, I'll be interested to know what you think of Draka society and institutions. I hope you become interested enough to read the other three Draka volumes.

Time traveling stories of the kind written by Ward Moore, L. Sprague De Camp, and Poul Anderson seems to have fallen out of fashion with most current SF writers. Instead, we see alternate history/universe stories of the kind written by Harry Turtledove and S.M. Stirling.
