Lunch At Sea

SM Stirling, Conquistador (New York, 2004), p. 452.

Another lunch:

salad
skewers of grilled shrimp in curry sauce
cold meats
bread
cheese
fruit

Stirling makes another oblique reference. The shrimp is "...the size of Tom's thumb..." See Tom Thumb. (I had not known that one version of Tom was in King Arthur's Court.)

Tiny folkloric characters like Tom are known in cultures around the world - according to the Wikipedia article.

Modern superheroes also include tiny characters: Doll Man; Dollman; the Silver Age Atom; Ant-Man - which takes us from Stirling's text to the latest Marvel Comics film. I am sitting up too late to post before going away tomorrow morning and am losing the plot. But it was good to find a third lunch.
