Five human couples are stranded on Khazak. Fifty years later, they have adult children and grandchildren; we are not told how many.
Khazak has:
"...an early Iron Age civilization of city-states..." (p. 284)
Its dominant species is:
"...naturally violent and predatory." (ibid.)
Violent sophonts are preferable to no sophonts!
The few stranded human beings have to:
ensure their own security by teaching the local Krakenaui military principles and means of making superior weapons;
develop chemical plant;
mine and refine manganese, chromium etc;
produce superalloys and rocket fuel;
address many other important and difficult requirements;
learn from scratch how to design and test a rocketship.
Does any of this even begin to be feasible?

Kaor, Paul!
At the very least, assuming friendly natives willing to learn, it would give such stranded humans something worthwhile to do. And just knowing something is possible would give these castaways some guidance on how to re-achieve it.
Ad astra! Sean
