Draun

The People Of The Wind.

If we are looking for villains on the Avalonian side - and why should we?, but if we are - then our prime candidate must be the bloodthirsty, Terran-hating Draun who perhaps epitomizes those Ythrians who are involved in violent clashes in the border space between Domain and Empire. The combination of deathpride and no effective government will be lethal in some cases - depending both on individual psychologies and on particular sub-cultures. In Larry Niven's Known Space future history series, natural selection during the Man-Kzin Wars, also known as the Wars against Men, results in later generations of (comparatively) tamer kzinti. Perhaps human-Ythrian interactions both on Avalon and between Domain and Empire will have a similar effect? Draun dies killing Terrans and thus does not have to fight a duel with his fellow Avalonian, Arinnian.

For me, this Saturday, the day after tomorrow, will be another day-trip to London, from the North West to the South East and back, and therefore will almost certainly be a day of no blogging, but there should be something or other tomorrow. Meanwhile, in other reading, our man Helm spends more time sailing like some of our Avalonians.

Fair winds forever.

Kaor, Paul!

And Ythrians of the New Faith can be just as bellicose and aggressive as those who remained polytheists.

Ad astra! Sean
