The Rebel Worlds, about the McCormac Rebellion, is Volume III of the Young Flandry Trilogy.
The Day Of Their Return is a sequel to The Rebel Worlds because it describes the aftermath of that Rebellion.
The Day Of Their Return is also a sequel to The People Of The Wind, about the Terran-Ythrian War, because it informs its readers of subsequent Terran-Ythrian relations.
The Day Of Their Return is the first appearance, in the Technic History chronology, both of Chunderban Desai, seen again in A Knight Of Ghosts And Shadows, and of Aycharaych, also seen in "Honorable Enemies," "Hunters of the Sky Cave" and A Knight Of Ghosts And Shadows.
This novel also imparts the information that Aycharaych's race, the Chereionites, were the Ancients and why they died out contra Axor's later speculations in The Game Of Empire.
Thus, The Day Of Their Return plays several pivotal roles in Poul Anderson's Technic History.

Kaor, Paul!
I dunno, "sequel" seems too strong a word to use when comparing THE DAY OF THEIR RETURN with THE PEOPLE OF THE WIND. The events in the former book did occur, after all, more than two centuries after the latter book. "Harks back" might be a better way of putting it.
Ad astra! Sean
