In The Day Of Their Return 3, we travel a long way with Chunderban Desai who:
recalls his dinner with Uldwyr;
spends more than a page and a half looking out across Nova Roma;
interviews Aycharaych, thus introducing that character to the readers;
plays the holograph of his interview with the merchant, Peter Jowett;
wisely decides to make further inquiries about the mysterious Aycharych.
The view of Nova Roma and the conversation with Jowett inform us about Aeneas, a planet as richly realized as Hermes, Avalon or Dennitza. Any planet warrants novelistic treatment even if it does not fill the novel although in fact Aeneas does fill The Day Of Their Return. The entire narrative is set on or under the surface of this single planet whereas some other novels in the series traverse several planets.

Kaor, Paul!
It was as long ago (ugh!) as 1968 or 1969, as a boy, that I first read any of the Technic stories, the 1965 Chilton Books edition of AGENT OF THE TERRAN EMPIRE. And which was also the first of Anderson's books I read. That was enough to get me hooked!
Ad astra! Sean
