These concerns are coming to a head.
We will not need to read about a global catastrophe if instead we experience one.
We usually assume that our society with its wealth of scientific knowledge and speculative fiction will outlast us but will it this time?
"Like sparks in a column of smoke, the discussion whirled and danced away throughout the galaxy and throughout the universe and into the reaches of some subject even the rudiments of which had never entered a human mind, and almost surely never would."
-James Blish, Mission To The Heart Stars (London, 1980), CHAPTER ELEVEN, p. 127.
If humanity dies, will "discussion" continue throughout the universe - or not?

Kaor, Paul!
Since I believe it's more likely than not that other intelligent races besides mankind exists, "discussion" will continue to exist even if the human race becomes extinct.
Ad astra! Sean
