Two Rescues On Avalon

"Wingless (on Avalon)" and "Rescue on Avalon" could instead have been marketed as "Rescues on Avalon, Parts 1 and 2," because, in each of these stories, a young human being rescues a distressed Ythrian, thus, on a purely individual and personal level, overcoming a small measure of potential hostility between the two species.

Problem-Solving Juvenile Short Stories In The Technic History
"How To Be Ethnic In One Easy Lesson." In one easy maneuver, Jim Ching solves problems for himself, his girlfriend's father and Adzel and wins a Polesotechnic League apprenticeship.

"The Season of Forgiveness." Juan Hernandez celebrates Christmas on Ivanhoe, thus inadvertently showing the natives that even Terran merchants have a sense of the sacred and are worth dealing with.

"Wingless..." and "Rescue..." As above.

Avalonian life does not hold enough nutrition for either species so separate ecologies must be maintained, thus explaining the need to live apart. Otherwise, there is no segregation. Such details matter in explaining the narratives.

Kaor, Paul!

Biological practicalities do matter. Ythrians, because of their BODIES, need more room and space than humans. Which is a big reason why true cities never arose among them. So, even on Avalon, there was a kind of de facto "segregation" due to most Yhtrians being rural ranchers.
