"Flight to Forever": Alternative Histories

"Flight to Forever."

Saunders stops time traveling and settles down with Eve but what might have happened if, instead, he and MacPherson had constructed another time projector?

An Immutable Timeline Scenario
Saunders returns to AD 50,000, arriving just after Vargor has dispatched the younger Saunders into the further future. He confronts Vargor, marries Taury and serves the Second Empire with the time projector. Maybe he has taken Eve with him and lives with both her and Taury?

A Mutable Timeline Scenario
Saunders travels to 2008 and warns his younger self and Hull not to travel to 2500 when Hull was killed. Instead, two Saunders, each in a time projector, one accompanied by Hull, travel to 50,000 to help the Empire. These events cannot fit in a single timeline. If Saunders has not seen Hull killed and traveled alone to 3000 etc, then he has not traveled around time and returned to 2008 to warn a younger Saunders and Hull.
