There Will Be Time, VIII.
Mong invaded the plains.
Ancestors of the Glacier Folk fled to the Glacier and Waterton Parks and the Bitterroot Range.
They became hunters, trappers, raiders and traders.
Families, clans and tribes feuded for generations but also became organized into kins and troops.
By Leonce's time, the Mong are gone (where?) and the Glacier Folk trade more than raid in the rich lowlands.
A century after Leonce, the Glacier Folk are in the Northwest Union.

I don't think the Mong were "gone"--rather, they had become a more settled people basically satisfied with what they had gained. Theirs was still a prominent nation in ORION WILL RISE.

Sean,
The word "gone" is used in the text, though. (p. 81).

Kaor, Paul!
A small oversight by PA when he was writing ORION years later. One of those slips any writer can make and fan boys like us will argue over as we try to rationalize them! (Smiles)

Sean,
The Introduction/Preface/whatever to ORION SHALL RISE says that it has not been kept precisely consistent with the earlier Maurai History.
Paul.
Kaor, Paul!
That kinda kills the fun fanboys would have debating inconsistencies in the stories! (Smiles)
Ad astra! Sean
