The Time Patrol timeline incorporates continual, small, usually inconsequential, temporal changes. Might these include quantum fluctuations in brains? A guy lives quietly in timelines alpha through psi but conquers the world in omega? Might someone develop a technology that would be able to cause such apparently random fluctuations? These speculations get further away from anything that is likely to happen but what will happen if technological civilization survives indefinitely? Might it affect the cosmos? Has it already done so elsewhere? The concluding passage of The Shield Of Time reveals that the Patrol does play a cosmic role. Maybe we need a conceptual synthesis between the Time Patrol series and the Harvest of Stars Tetralogy?
