The Chronos has solved the perennial space traveler's plight of confinement in a metal hull:
wingsuited crew members perform aerobatics in the weightless recreation area at the spin axis;
the clubhouse is built into the support frame on a Lunar gravity level;
a machine serves drinks;
above a balcony is the sky with remote, spidery girders, clouds and flying crew members;
opposite are decks with woods, brooks and pools;
right and left, the hull stretches out of sight;
the air is cool and jasmine-scented.
Poul Anderson's Lunarians are also able to make an enclosed, artificial environment both spacious and colorful. See Lunarians On Proserpina II.

Kaor, Paul!
And it's reasonable to think that the WAY some intelligent races physically evolved will affect how well they can adapt to space traveling. The Ythrians, because of being a flying race, needed more ROOM on space ships simply for exercise alone to help maintain good health. And they could not endure any kind of space SUITS. So, their moving into space was slower and more difficult than it was for many other intelligent species.
