Ythrians

Because John W. Campbell suggested the biological supercharger idea to Poul Anderson, the Ythrians sprang into existence:

"Wings of Victory," 1972;
"The Problem of Pain," 1973;
"Lodestar," 1973;
"Wingless," 1973;
"Rescue on Avalon," 1973;
The People Of The Wind, 1973;
The Day Of Their Return, 1973;
The Earth Book Of Stormgate, 1979.

In "Wings of Victory," the xenologist of the Olga had studied the trade-route cultures of Cynthia and cited Wodenites as centauroids descended from hexapods. Another crew member had been on Hermes. Thus, the home planets of the three trade pioneer crew members provide solid background material for the story about the discovery of Ythri.

The history of Ythri is an important strand of the History of Technic Civilization.

Kaor, Paul!

Considering how it was John Campbell's suggestion which inspired Anderson in writing most of the stories featuring Ythrians in less than two years, I can certainly understand why PA had so much affection and respect for him.
