Classical Studies

Words change their meanings. "Classics" means the study of ancient languages, literature, culture etc. If civilization were to fall so that science was lost, then scientific knowledge would become one of the classics. See:

Unusual Heavenly Bodies

Classics like astrophysics and planetography enable the understanding of the unusual planet, Nike.

A classical education, including "Pre-Blackout Sciences," enables Pip to recognize an electric street vehicle in SM Stirling, The Sea Peoples (New York, 2017), Chapter Thirteen, p. 195.

Ideas echo between worlds. The Sea Peoples enters strange places. And I am still suffering from a cold but have managed to sit up with the laptop. Everything after this will be an act of the Nietzschean will.

Kaor, Paul!

I still remember how interested I was by the idea of considering astrophysics and planetography were considered among the "classics" after the Empire fell the first time I read "A Tragedy Of Errors." As you said, I had defined "Classics" as the study of Greek, Latin, history, and culture. But a loss of knowledge of the sciences lead them to being included among the Classics (with Anglic replacing Latin and Greek).
