Studying History

The Time Traveller's dinner guests discuss observing the Battle of Hastings or learning Greek from Homer and Plato. Time Patrol Specialists study unrecorded periods so that the Patrol can know what events it must preserve. Here is another example. The Acts of the Apostles presents St Paul as reasoning with Greek philosophers in Athens instead of just preaching at them. It would be uncharacteristic of Paul to make such a concession to human reason so did Luke, the author of Acts, put words into his mouth? Time travellers would be able to find out. Imagine being able to attend that debate.

Paul did tend to tailor his message to his audience.
