Another Contrast

"Un-Man," II.

Chicago is dying. The still inhabited parts of the city are surrounded by miles of cracked, grass-grown streets and ruined buildings with creaking joists that will eventually be razed by an agricultural concern - cobwebs, rats and dust. Meanwhile, however, such areas provide a convenient hideout for those engaged in clandestine activities.

We have been shown devastated Europe in 1964, then restored Illinois in 2004. Now we see Chicago in 2004. The post-World War III rebuilding of the US is not yet complete and there is deadly political conflict as to how it should be completed. Mankind reaches for the stars but not yet - not until Volume III of the Psychotechnic History.

Kaor, Paul!

And the ruins seen in the dying city of Chicago reminds too well of the similar situation to be seen right NOW in Detroit! That city too has large regions which fits in exactly with the description given of the abandoned parts of Chicago.
