Fabius And The Scipios

"Delenda Est," 7.

"Quintus Fabius Maximus fought a grim guerilla war, which laid Italy waste and decided nothing." (p. 218)

But Fabius gave the English language a word, Fabian, used by Dominic Flandry. There is also a Fabian Society (see also here) which I mention for completeness, not to promote it. As with the Samaritans, the name has become attached to an organization unrelated to the original meaning of the word.

In 210, Hannibal burned Rome. Everard deduces that the Scipios died at the Battle of Ticinus. Van Sarawak says that this could only have happened through the intervention of a time traveler. In The Shield Of Time, we learn another possible explanation.

Kaor, Paul!

Yes, I recall how Dominic Flandry used "Fabian" when referring to Admiral Pickens campaign of wearing down the forces of the would be usurper Hugh McCormac in THE REBEL WORLDS.

And I have heard of the Fabian Society, which used to be influential in the Labour Party. But not of any organizations called "Samaritan."

Ad astra! Sean
