Packaging Poul Anderson's Technic History II

The previous post referred to the contents of Baen Books' The Technic Civilization Saga, Vols V-VII. Dominic Flandry was a Captain throughout Vols V-VI and has become a Vice Admiral, then an Admiral, in Vol VII which then also covers three post-Imperial periods.

For completeness, we should add that, in Vol IV, Young Flandry, he is successively Ensign, Lieutenant, Lieutenant Commander and Commander and that the previous three volumes, covering the pre-Flandry periods of the Technic History, comprise what I call an "Extended Earth Book of Stormgate." See here.

Thus, the seven-volume Saga is a systematic presentation of this long and complex future history series.

I: van Rijn.
II: Falkayn.

Kaor, Paul!

I was not really satisfied with how the cover for THE VAN RIJN METHOD depicted Old Nick. He should have been bigger and fatter!

And the first three of the Baen Books Flandry volumes had ghastly covers! Who would want to be seen in public with books having such lurid covers???

Sean,
I have long ceased to be embarrassed by what I am seen to read - unless it were real pornography!

I understand and respect that attitude! The best reason for disliking those three awful covers is because of how it shows DISRESPECT for the works of Anderson.

And "A Tragedy of Errors" puts stress on how words like "awful" have changed meanings!

Some of those covers are fine; others are unspeakably bad.

The Ythrians are the best.

Kaor, Paul and Mr. Stirling!

Mr. Stirling: I particularly abhor the cover for the sixth volume!

Paul: Meaning the cover for RISE OF THE TERRAN EMPIRE? Yes, that was the best of the Baen Books covers for the Technic civilization volumes.
