A Graphic Adaptation Of A Prequel

With time to spare in Lancaster Public Library, I read Brian Herbert's and Kevin J. Anderson's graphic adaptation of their Dune: House Atreides. Herbert and Anderson write better than Frank Herbert did. Would we welcome such a prequel in Poul Anderson's Technic History? An equivalent scenario would be a novel about Crown Prince Josip's machinations in his father's court with action also on important other planets like Hermes and Dennitza.

We would welcome well-written extra instalments about familiar characters and settings but I get the impression that many volumes have been published merely to have the word, "Dune," - also "Foundation" - in their titles and nothing like that should ever be done with any of Poul Anderson's fictional universes. Fortunately, no one seems inclined to try.

Kaor, Paul!

I think you meant to write "Herbert and Anderson write better than ["Brian"] Herbert"?

I agree, I hope no one, outside of mostly forgettable fanfics, seriously tries to write bad pastiches of Anderson's stories. Stirling showed, however, in "A Slip in Time," that a good writer who respects Anderson and his universes, can compose good pastiches set in those timelines. Stirling also once said he would love to do a Dominic Flandry story. Maybe he will, if a second MULTIVERSE is ever in the works. I am confident he would do a very good job of it, respecting Anderson's style, and the character and background of Flandry.
