More Background Information

As ever, a summary of part of Poul Anderson's Technic History leaves out something. The detail omitted here was that The People Of The Wind recounts not only human beings and Ythrians sharing the planet Avalon but also their resistance to the Terran Empire. For background information about the Empire, we read two other stories:

the announcement of the founding of the Empire in "The Star Plunderer";

the early growth of the Empire in "Sargasso of Lost Starships."

The difference is that neither of these stories is included in the Avalonian Ythrian Hloch's Earth Book Of Stormgate but this is valid. Hloch rightly ends his history with accounts of two incidents that had occurred during the colonization of Avalon, not with events occurring elsewhere in human space. Other historians inform us about those. The Technic History presents multiple and alternative viewpoints.
