Everard's Way

The Stars Are Also Fire, 23.

Trying to avoid a noisy crowd, Aleka turned left, then right, but "Unfamiliarity tricked her..." (p. 299) so that she entered a square where a crowd danced around a fire. Earlier this week, I became disoriented in our pedestrianized City Centre. Not remembering how to get from one place to another, I walked an unnecessarily long way around and then found that the covered passage called "Everard's Way" was the route that I should have taken. A Poul Anderson fan and, more specifically, a Time Patrol fan should have remembered that and a fanfic writer would be able to create a story about time travel in historic Lancaster involving Everard's Way and the nearby John O'Gaunt pub. However, I am not a fiction writer and am about to go out for the evening to the Royal Hotel in Heysham.

Kaor, Paul!

Even so, I'm still intrigued to find out Lancaster has a street with Manse Everard's name!

And people with a moderate knowledge of British history should know who John O'Gaunt was.

Sean,

Not even a street, just a pedestrian passage, and I imagine arriving at a different time when passing through it.

I did wonder if Everard's Way was even a mere alley! Just a pedestrian passageway.

You know, a story idea comes to mind when you relate that anecdote...

Kaor, Mr. Stirling!

To second Paul, why not? (Smiles)

Or even an Everard Way involving Dominic Flandry?
