Harvest The Fire, CHAPTER 3.
Venator, a human personality that had been downloaded into a neural network, then merged into the cybercosm, has again been downloaded into a two-meter-high body with:
a sensory turret;
a curved chassis;
four legs;
four arms;
a blue sheen;
silver trim.
Other pedestrians in a Lunar plaza recognize that this quadrupedal metallic body either houses or is remotely controlled by an intelligence that is part of the cybercosm.
When Venator spies on Lirion, he is merely a box with speaker and sensors lurking in a cabinet concealed in a wall of an apartment. He waits in the darkness with "...machine patience." (p. 78)
Politics and espionage continue but at a higher technological level.
