Harvest The Fire, CHAPTER 2.
Verne's characters travel round the Moon.
Wells's travel to it.
Heinlein's colonize it, in the Future History.
How might people from Earth come to be at home on the Moon?
Lunarians have been genetically engineered to remain healthy and bear children in Lunar gravity. Falaire's bionic spacesuit fits her "...like a second skin." (p. 44) In Lunar gravity, she lopes as if dancing or even flying. Sensors in their suits make it feel as if she and Nicol hold each other directly. Some Lunarians walk on the surface with moonwolves, vacuum-adapted pets.
Terrans living permanently on the Moon have nanomaintainors to preserve cellular and fluidic bodily balances and also need regular exercise to prevent bone and muscle atrophy.
Anderson goes into more detail than any of his predecessors.

Poul knew more, since human beings have spent more time in microgravity environments.
Kaor, Mr. Stirling and Paul!
And I recall how it was the "Mother of the Moon," Dagny Beynac, who found out the hard way why genetically unmodified women could not bear children on the Moon. But we still don't know if that will actually be the case. We would have found out long ago whether or not women could give birth on the Moon if only the US had built colonies on Luna.
We should have known the answers to many questions DECADES ago!
Ad astra! Sean
