Winter

I find the word "winter" strangely evocative when used as an adjective.

Diana Crowfeather thinks:

"Interchangeable people? The idea was like a winter wind."
-The Game Of Empire, CHAPTER TWENTY, p. 424.

There was a Winter War during the first winter of World War II.

The Marvel Movieverse has The Winter Soldier.

Alan Moore's Miracleman's daughter calls herself Winter. (That is back to a noun, of course.)

Blogging is coming to a natural end for this evening. Still ahead of us is the climax of The Game Of Empire.

Kaor, Paul!

And I immediately thought of the Winter War between Finland and the USSR (1939-40) before I clicked on the link.

Winter is a powerful metaphor if you live in Scandinavia... 8-). For its darkness as well as its cold.

Note the nature of the Nordic hell.

I've lived in some fairly grim northern climates. By mid-February it seems like winter will never end... and that's with electric light and central heating.

Kaor, Mr. Stirling!

I agree, esp. during this snowy, frigid spell we are having here just now in Massachusetts! And in February too!
