To appreciate the vastness of Poul Anderson's Technic History, consider two recent posts.
In Overlapping Stories II, we referred, briefly and tangentially, to a sequence of events that began in the second instalment of The Technic Civilization Saga, Volume I, and ended in the first instalment of Volume III, from first contact with Ythri to the Babur War.
In Rangers And Ymirites, we referred to the last four instalments in Volume VII, from the Long Night to the discovery of the Cloud Universe by a Ranger of the Commonalty.
Each of these sequences would count as a future history series in itself yet they comprise less than half of the Technic History. A comparable sequence is the remainder on Volume III, five instalments from the colonization of the Hesperian Islands on Avalon to the Terran War on Avalon. The Dominic Flandry Period, not a future history series but incorporating a major historical turning point, fills three and a half volumes.
