Mirkheim, XII.
Sol III has not yet changed its name from "Earth" to "Terra." Eric Tamarin from Hermes deals with "Earthlings," not with "Terrans."
Terrestrial food and drink have "...subtly peculiar tastes." (p. 172) To a Hermetian, they do, of course. On one of Julian May's colonized planets, the milk is a slightly different colour.
"'...Hermetians walk differently from any breed of Earthling... Looser jointed.'" (p. 173)
An Eric Tamarin double hired by Eric's father, Nicholas van Rijn, needs "'...crash-course training.'" (ibid.)
In The People Of The Wind, Terran spies cannot penetrate Avalon because the human Avalonians walk and talk very differently. Human beings are capable of immense adaptability - and can then become very inflexible.
There are probably more Hermetian-Earthling differences in this chapter but that is as far as I reread this evening.

Kaor, Paul!
Iow, we all can get set and fixed in our ways and habits. Albeit, some differences, like the ways Earthlings and Hermetians walk, might be due to the different gravities of Earth and Hermes.
I think Governor Saracoglu, in THE PEOPLE OF THE WIND, noticed that grapes grown on Esperance tasted different from Terran grapes.
Ad astra! Sean
