Heinlein In Dimension.
So how does Poul Anderson measure up to Alexei Panshin's statements about SF?
Anderson is neither widely influential nor about to become so.
Maybe some people still identify him just with space opera.
He is not a second-rate writer.
His works address facts, change and the further future.
They prepare us for the certainty of change.
He places familiar things in unfamiliar contexts.
Thus, he measures up to Panshin's criteria for good sf.
But that is no surprise to anyone on this blog.

Kaor, Paul!
I have to regretfully agree Anderson is not likely to be as widely influential as I would wish him to be. Albeit I occasionally come across people who have a few of his works. Plus John Wright and some of the combox commentators at his blog sometimes mention Anderson, with approval.
Merry Christmas! Sean
