Everard In The Beta Timeline

When Emil Volstrup and Wanda Tamberly went to 1146 AD, Manse Everard went with two other Time Patrol agents to 1245beta AD. Thus, Everard has experiences and performs actions which will no longer exist, at least not in the current timeline, if the Patrol succeeds in its mission to delete the beta timeline. Nevertheless, and whatever its ontological status, the beta timeline contains sensations, sights, sounds and scents which the author describes in detail as Manse Everard/Munan Eyvindsson converses with an alternative historical version of Holy Roman Emperor Frederick II.

We find that we have summarized these experiences before, better than we could have done now, and therefore need not do so again! Meanwhile, late night other reading calls. Good night.

Kaor, Paul!

I even looked up the book Frederick II wrote about hunting with hawks. I think contemporary hunters still find it a useful reference work.

Frederick was a formidable man.

Kaor, Mr. Stirling!

He was, except Frederick II had to contend with the aged but indomitable Pope Gregory IX (r. 1227-41).

In retrospect I think Frederick should have made one of his younger sons King of Sicily while retaining northern Italy and the Empire. That might have assuaged the Papacy's fears about being surrounded by an overwhelmingly powerful state.
