A Haven And Lost Zacharians

The Game Of Empire, CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE.

The Merseians might offer some Zacharians "'...a haven...'" (p. 453) but the rest of them will be scattered like the lost tribes of Israel going from the sight of God, in other words ceasing to exist. There are fascinating speculations about what happened to the lost tribes on the assumption that going from the sight of God does not mean ceasing to exist. The tribe of Dan became the Tuatha de Danaan who went to Ireland from where the royal succession from Solomon migrated to Scotland, then to England. The British are the lost tribes. There will be no such myths about lost Zacharians but that "haven," if it comes into existence, might become a threat to human civilization in future. The Merseians might still have ideas about using these improved human beings as a layer of governance between themselves and a subjugated humanity although we know from the later Technic History that no such scheme succeeds.
