John Sandoval

Poul Anderson, "The Only Game in Town" IN Anderson, Time Patrol (Riverdale, NY, 2010), pp. 129-171.

We summarized a few Time Patrol mini-bios a while back. Here is another:

John Sandoval, Native American
born, 1930;
military experience, Korea;
GI bill college education;
contacted by the Patrol;
ethnic Specialist, tracing, e.g., Athabascan migrations;
friend of Unattached Manse Everard.

That friendship leads to a harrowing mission for both men. (But not tonight, folks!)

"'It may be a crooked game,' Everard said, 'but it's the only one in town!'" (7, p. 171)

Lost innocence: the persistent theme of the Time Patrol series.

Kaor, Paul!

Real life is always going to be like that, loss of innocence.
