Inimitable?

Quiz question: Which two characters written by major sf writers are, certainly in the first case and probably in the second case, inspired by PG Wodehouse's Jeeves?

OK. I am going to answer it:

Henry the waiter in Isaac Asimov's Black Widower series;
Dominic Flandry's Chives.

Henry is known by his first name although his surname, which I forget, is revealed in the first story;

Jeeves is known by his surname although his first name is later revealed as "Reginald";

Chives, superior to the others, has only one name.

Kaor, Paul!

I agree with you in thinking Dominic Flandry's butler Chives a better or more convincing character than Jeeves or Henry. It's also very likely Chives had a Shalmuan name, even tho we never see it. I think Lord Peter Wimsey's butler, Mr. Bunter, a convincingly drawn out character. Probably because we see so much of him in Dorothy L. Sayers Wimsey novels.
