Flandry:
meets Aycharaych for the first time in "Honorable Enemies";
captures him, although he is immediately released, at the end of "Hunters of the Sky Cave";
finally defeats, or at least neutralizes, him at the very end of A Knight Of Ghosts And Shadows.
A Knight... also contains a flashback to an earlier conversation between Flandry and Aycharaych.
The Day Of Their Return, featuring Aycharaych but not Flandry, is a sequel to the Flandry novel, The Rebel Worlds, and a prequel to the Flandry-Aycharaych encounters.
Thus, we get the impression of a much longer sequence. Flandry, of course, is often in action against opponents other than Aycharaych.

Also, did Chereion have a medical science capable of greatly extending the life spans of Chereionites? We see Flandry saying A KNIGHT OF GHOSTS AND SHADOWS that he did not know how old Aycharaych was. If he could live a long time Aycharaych would have been both an enemy of the Empire and a deceiver of Merseia longer than we know of.

That's exactly what I vaguely had in mind! Albeit, it's still only a guess on Flandry's part. Altho I think a true one. I can imagine the Chereionites, as they realized their race was slowly dying out (from unknown causes) trying to delay extinction by extending the lifespans of Chereionites.
