Fighting The Possessed

We discussed demonic possession here.

CS Lewis' Elwin Ransom and SM Stirling's Tiphaine D'Ath physically fight possessed individuals. Ransom, expecting superhuman strength in his opponent, finds to his relief that they are physically matched whereas Stirling's possessed are supernaturally resilient. Poul and Karen Anderson's Dahut dies and returns but, before that, had acted as if possessed.

What happens in real life cases of "possession"? Psychological disturbances, certainly. Is there also literal possession of the organism by another intelligence?

Kaor, Paul!

You surprised me here! I don't recall Dahut being possessed by one of her demonic gods before her "transformation" at the end of DAHUT, in THE KING OF YS. I do recall her vicious intrigues against her father Gratillonius when he refused to "marry" her.

Yes, I believe demonic possession to be rare but possible. In his book HOSTAGE TO THE DEVIL Malachi Martin discusses five cases of demonic possession.

Sean,
I am not sure that Dahut was possessed but she sometimes acted like it. See the post, "Demonic Laughter," Sunday, 22 May 2016.

I looked up this older blog piece of yours and my own comment. And while I still don't think Dahut was yet possessed by her demonic gods, I would say she was certainly under their INFLUENCE.
